Self-custody means you retain full control over your private keys. With Carabaas, your MPC cosigner runs on your own infrastructure. No transaction can be signed without your key share participating, and Carabaas cannot access or move your funds unilaterally.
The private key is never created or stored in full. Instead, two key shares are generated — one held by your cosigner and one by the Carabaas platform. To sign a transaction, both parties must participate in a cryptographic protocol. Neither party alone can produce a valid signature.
You always have an escrowed seed backup that allows you to recover full access to your funds independently. This ensures business continuity regardless of the Carabaas platform status.
